Poppies at Cowley

|
|
The summer meadow ablaze with scarlet poppies was once a familiar
sight, but modern herbicides have all but eliminated this beautiful
wild flower from the countryside. Occasionally fine displays can
still be seen on 'set-aside' fields like this one near the village
of Cowley in The Cotswolds. The village Church in the distance completes
this nostalgic scene.
The recent upsurge in popularity of wild flower gardening could
signal the return of this wonderful sight, so reminiscent of a Monet
painting.
For the photographers amongst you, this view was taken against
the early evening sun
