Duntisbourne Leer

Two villages and four hamlets are dotted along the valley of a
stream called the Dunt after a Saxon chief who lived in the area.
Duntisbourne Leer - a picturebook pretty cluster of stone
houses and barns nestles round a shallow ford. The name of the hamlet
is derived from its one-time owners, the abbey of Lire in Normandy.
Our photograph shows the farm buildings, some with pigeon nesting
holes in their gables clustered around the ford. A gaggle of goslings
and ducklings add a finishing touch to this idyllic scene.
