Sunset over Sevenhampton

|
|
Our photograph shows a stunning sunset near the village of Sevenhampton.
The River Coln divides this picturesque village into two parts.
One part contains the church and manor house, and the other a cluster
of attractive cottages and a ford. The interesting church has one
of the prettiest and best kept churchyards in the Cotswolds.
Sevenhampton lies four miles south of Winchcombe and one and a
half miles north of Andoversford, which was first mentioned in a
charter of AD 759 as Onnanford - the name being derived from onn,
the Welsh for ash tree, making this place 'at the ford of the ash
trees'.
