Sunset over Haresfield Beacon

|
|
This atmospheric photograph, taken from Haresfield Beacon, shows
a glorious sunset over the River Severn.
A popular venue for ramblers, dog walkers and family picnics, on
a clear day there are spectacular views across the Severn Valley,
Forest of Dean and the Black Mountains in Wales.
Haresfield Beacon is an iron age camp with steeply tiered ramparts.
From the hamlet of Arlebrook, at the foot of the beacon, it is a
steep and bracing climb of over five hundred feet in half a mile
to the summit, but the breathtaking views are well worth the effort.
