Neptune's Fountain

At the end of the Long Garden on the Promenade is the Neptune's
Fountain which was designed by Joseph Hall, the borough engineer,
and constructed by R.L. Boulton and Sons in 1892-3. The statue shows
Neptune the god of water holding a trident as a symbol
of his power over the sea.
During the summer the fountain is a popular haven for office workers
taking their lunch break.
In the background of the photograph is Royscot House, a modern
office block, which was designed to compliment the architecture
of the adjacent nineteenth century terrace.
