The Acer Glade

|
|
The spectacular colours as seen in our photograph of the Acer Glade
attract over three hundred thousand visitors from all over the world
each year. The Arboretum (from the Latin word arbor, for tree) is
a focus for conservation and research and does a great deal of educational
work with regular class visits for school children.
This year an added attraction will be the Westonbirt Festival of
Gardens which is sure to become an annual event.
When Robert Holford, a millionaire who made his fortune by piping
clean drinking water into London, started his collection one hundred
and eighty two years ago, he could have had little idea of how important
his collection would become.
