Crickley Hill Country Park

|
|
Crickley Hill is of great archaeological significance. It has an
early Iron Age camp with a still impressive rampart enclosing an
area of around nine acres. There are three stages of re-building,
the third of which added bastion towers and hornwork to strengthen
the entrance. Nearby lies what is possibly the highest section of
an Iron Age wall in England still standing at some twelve feet high.
Many interesting archaelogical finds have been unearthed including
pottery, flint and metal work.
Crickley Hill has now been designated a country park and is popular
with ramblers, dog walkers and families alike. Our photographs show
the spectacular autumn colours in the woodland walks.
